There’s plenty of art you can find through paintings on canvas, but street painting art is typically not something that is seen every day. Street painting art, also known as I Madonnari, goes back to the 16th century. Experience the amazing creation of street painting art on Riverhead this weekend at East Main Street between Roanoke Avenue and East Street.
The 16th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival by East End Arts will run from noon to 5pm on Sunday, May 27th. The rain date is 2pm to 5pm on Monday, May 28th. Everyone is welcome to attend this free art event.
If you are looking to be more than a spectator, register immediately to be a street painter. Participants over the age of 14 are welcome. Those who pre-register may be paired with a sponsor square based on availability. Street painting squares may also be purchased the day of the event for $20, and it includes chalk and blending materials to create artwork.
Aside from the sights of artwork throughout the street grounds, there will be other activities and entertainment such as storytelling, live music, drumming and dancing, face painting, exhibitors selling art, Long Island’s Creative Vortex’s display of “Shifting Realities Across Long Island” and more.
This year’s event sponsors include Bridgehampton National Bank, Yelp, Suffolk County National Bank, Ivy Acres and Riverhead Free Library.
If you think you’ve seen outstanding art through paintings on canvas, just wait until you see what the Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival has to offer.
Come back each week for new features on entertainment, shopping and dining opportunities on Long Island.
