Coast Guard, Sailors and Marines join BAYVILLE AMERICAN LEGION in
Annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 28, 2012
For the Nine Year in a Row, the Village of Bayville will be the only Parade in Nassau to host Active Duty Servicemen
WHAT: Observers of the annual Bayville Memorial Day Parade will get a special treat this year as current members of the Armed Forces joins the Bayville Robert H. Spittel American Legion Post 1285 in marching through the village. The Village of Bayville is the only village in Nassau County that will feature active duty Coast Guard, Sailors and Marines marching in the parade. The special visit will also enable Bayville veterans and Legionnaries to meet one-on-one with the servicemen.
WHO: Active Duty U.S. Coast Guard ,Sailors and Marines visiting the NYC-area for Fleet Week, American Legion Post Commander Vincent Libertini, Mayor of Bayville Honorable Douglas Watson, and additional special guests. Past servicemen have come from the USS Iwo Jima, US Naval Seabees, USS Anzio, USS Wasp, and the USS Monterey.
Thousands of Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships will be in town for Fleet Week New York, in May. Hosted nearly every year since 1984, Fleet Week New York is the City's celebration of the sea services. This annual event also provides an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding Tri-State area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen.

8:30 am: Active Duty Coast Guard, Sailors and Marines arrive in Bayville and will meet with Legionnaires and other Veterans at Legion Hall 45 Bayville Avenue.
10:30 am March to Bayville Cemetery for 10:45AM Ceremony, on return Ceremony at the Post Memorial.
12:30 pm: Memorial Program and Salute at Bayville Village Hall.
1:00 pm: Parade Start.
