There are certain parts of your life that you can look at and simply think about another, monumental part. For instance, the much debated inspiration for Billy Joel's hit "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,” which is now owned by the Singh Hospitality Group, plans to close and be reinvented.
This is quite a blow to many as their favorite pasta and wine place is going to be a distant memory. Just to say that you have eaten, or been a part of the history, at the place of inspiration for an iconic singer and song, carries a little bit of bragging rights. Now, that will all be gone.
Chief executive Harendra Singh said he has signed on chef-restaurateur Tom Schaudel — of Jewel in Melville and Coolfish in Syosset — as a consultant whose job is to develop a whole new concept. "Right now, we’re operating as Christiano’s,” Singh said, but once Schaudel’s plans have been finalized, “we are going to close down for a little while.” When the place reopens, it will not be called Christiano’s. “Of that much, I’m definitely sure,” said Singh.
In fact, not only is the name going to be changing, but it isn't even going to be an Italian restaurant or have any resemblance to the Billy Joel connection.
