Those who enjoy some good BBQ are always looking for a great way to enjoy some delicious food. Often, this means pulling the car to a stop every time you see someone with a pit smoker on the side of the road or in a dilapidated shack. This is not necessary whenever you go to the Long Island 6th Annual Battle of the BBQ Brethren – Smokin at the Maples.
The event lasts for two days (August 4-5) and lasts from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. This is a BBQ championship contest and fundraiser. All of the proceeds of the festival will be going to benefit the John Theissen Children’s Foundation. You will be able to sample BBQ from some of the region’s best pit masters.
Those who win the prize of best pit master will earn their portion of a purse which is better than $10,000. The only thing that you will need to pay is a requested donation amount of $3 for each guest in your party. If you feel like making additional donations, you can go to www.jtcf.org to do so.
Other than a lot of great food for a great cause, it is possible to enjoy some wonderful custom cars at the Saturday Custom Car Show. The Eastern Long Island Cruisers will be in attendance at the car show as well as others with a great car to show off to the public. There will also be live music to be enjoyed by all throughout the weekend.
Held at Maples Bar and Grill just off of the Long Island Expressway in Manorville, NY, you should be able to find it easily. The address is 10 Ryerson Avenue and you can call for further directions if you need them at 631-247-6653.
