CHARLIE DANE CONTINUES HER CLIMB TO THE TOP AT MOUNTAIN JAM 2012
Long Island teenage phenom plays and networks with major acts, impresses fans and industry alike
Oyster Bay, NY (June 7, 2012) – This past weekend, 13 year old Oyster Bay NY born singer/songwriter Charlie Dane joined the world class lineup for the 8th annual Mountain Jam Festival at Hunter Mountain, NY. This was a weekend to remember; sometime Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule headlined Friday and Saturday nights, the legendary Steve Winwood from Traffic and Blind Faith headlined Sunday night with performances by Michael Franti & Spearhead, Dawes, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band among others rounding out the bill.
"Mountain Jam was the greatest. Some venues I perform at, people are there just to socialize, eat or drink. At Hunter they were really there for the music. People were singing, dancing and clapping along. There's nothing better than that!"
The career of Charlie Dane is seeing strong upward movement this year; in May she was chosen as one of the seven youth artist Finalists aged 13 to 20 from across the country who contributed original songs to the non-profit PAVE the Way Project which raises awareness of dating violence alongside their peers. The winning artist will perform in a recording of a new song written by GRAMMY Award winner Salvador Santana, collaborating alongside his father, 10-time GRAMMY Award winner, Carlos Santana.
Voting is still live and you can cast yours for Charlie Dane to win by following this link: http://www.verizoninsider.com/pave/charlie-dane
The past two summers, Charlie has been playing at music festivals such as South by Southwest, Gathering of the Vibes, Great South Bay Music Festival, Equifunk, the 27 and 28th annual Oyster Festivals as well as for Camps-R-Us and Girl Scout Summer Camps and the Westfield and Simon Malls.
She also recently wowed audiences across NYC, opening up for Eric Krasno at Sullivan Hall, for Papa Grows Funk at Hiro Ballroom (at a benefit to help Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp), and for members of The Radiators - playing as Raw Oyster Cult - at AOA. Additionally, Charlie has appeared on stage as a duet with the great George Porter Jr and the Runnin Pardners and has been invited back several times to the legendary Bitter End from the recognition that she received at their “Chick Singer Night” series.
2012 has also seen the release of her debut record, “Dreamland” – which is available now on her website as well as on iTunes and the other major music download services.
