What: As part of a community service, Central Veterinary Associates will provide free veterinary services to pet owners affected by Hurricane Sandy. CVA veterinarians and staff will be joined by local elected officials and members of the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Those who bring their animals will also receive free advice and consultations from CVA’s veterinarians. They will also receive vouchers for free rabies vaccinations for their pets and a coupon good for 20% off any and all veterinary services. In addition, CVA and SCSPCA staff members will distribute pet food and pet items to those in need.
This is the second time this month that CVA and the SCSPCA worked in this joint venture. On December 2, seventy pet owners showed up to receive pro bono veterinary services.
During Hurricane Sandy, Central Veterinary Associates kept its hospital open 24 hours a day. After the storm, the hospital’s staff and veterinarians accepted donated pet food and pet items that were later distributed at its clinic in Far Rockaway.
