The East Coast has been hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and in many areas, includingLong Island, the aftermath has been devastating. Amidst the damage, Long Islanders have united to help those in need. St. Catherine of Siena Nursing andRehabilitationCareCenterhelped by opening its doors on Friday, November 2, to community members who were displaced by Hurricane Sandy. Evelyn Schmidt and Ann Matero, picture above were so thrilled to be in a warm environment and mentioned how grateful they were, especially to eat a hot meal and watch television.
The medical center is dedicated to helping members of the communities it services and continues to be a place of refuge for community members without heat and electricity.
