(Center Moriches, New York) — For the 24th straight year, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is asking those to get “spooked” for a good cause. The annual Spooky Walk will take place on the campgrounds on October 19-20 and October 26-27. Gates open between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The event is being hosted by the Moriches Paquatuck Squaws.
Although the Spooky Walk has been considered a family-friendly event in the past, organizers for this year’s Spooky Walk have been working hard in making this the scariest — and best — Halloween on Long Island this Halloween season. Since its inception in 1989, the Spooky Walk has become the most popular haunt on Long Island, and — at a walk lasting 45 to 60 minutes — the longest-lasting walk on the Island.
As visitors enter the gates, they will encounter some of the scariest, most grotesque creatures they have ever seen. Their bravery will be challenged as they walk an inescapable route into The Black Forest. This year’s exhibits include The Zombie Woods, the Lost Pirates, the Haunted Hostel, the new Psycho Circus, the Road Kill Die-Ner and more! In addition, this year’s Spooky Walk will offer some surprises with new exhibits that promise to be just as scary — if not, scarier.
This year’s Spooky Walk is geared towards older children, teenagers and adults. Younger children may also attend, but it is up to the parent or caregiver to determine if their child can handle it. If for any reason the parent needs to take the child out, they may do so by notifying a security officer.
The event is being presented by The Moriches Paquatuck Squaws, who raise over $100,000 annually for the campers at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck.
Tickets are $12 on October 19, $15 on October 20, 26 and 27. Food, drinks and souvenirs will be sold at the end of the walk. All sales proceeds will go to benefit the special-needs children at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck.
The camp is located on Chet Swezey Road. For more information, visit www.spookywalk.com. For more information about Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, call (631) 878-1070 or visit www.camppaquatuck.com.
