Godspell and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat are not only two of the most popular musicals of all time, they touch audiences in intensely personal and emotionally resonating ways. Shows have long explored spiritual journeys like Maria’s spiritual journey from nun to governess in The Sound of Music to the story of religious Jew Tevye and his family inFiddler on the Roof, and even the central quest for spiritual redemption in Les Miserables. These themes have resulted in some of Broadway’s most memorable and inspirational songs that will also include selections from Hair, Carousel, Sister Act, Les Miserables and Man of La Mancha.
Produced and hosted by New York Casting Director Stephen DeAngelis, five of Broadway’s finest vocalists will perform some of the most spiritual and inspirational songs in musical theatre history. Scheduled Performers are Ron Bohmer (The Phantom of the Opera; A Little Night Music; Ragtime; The Woman in White; The Scarlet Pimpernel; Fiddler on the Roof; Les Miserables), Jackie Burns (Wicked; Hair; Rock of Ages), Rosena Hill Jackson (Monty Python’s Spamalot; The Color Purple; Come Fly Away; Imaginary Friends; Oklahoma!; Riverdance-OnBroadway; Marie Christine; Ragtime), Telly Leung (Godspell; Pacific Overtures; Flower Drum Song; RENT) and Rashidra Scott (Sister Act; Hair; Finian’s Rainbow; Avenue Q).
The Broadway performers will be joined by a Special Appearance of the Next Generation Chorus composed of musical theatre students from Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School and Paul D.Schreiber High School.
Tickets: Premium $50; Standard $45 with discounts for “Friends of Landmark.” Tickets and information at the box office phone 516-767-6444 orwww.landmarkonmainstreet.org.
