The Bridgehampton Historical Society and Peconic Land Trust are co-hosting 2012’s 2nd Annual Bridgehampton Barn Tour, on Saturday May 19th, from 10am to 4pm. This unique tour will highlight barns of various styles, ages, and uses throughout the greater Bridgehampton area (Hayground and Sagaponack included). Each participating barn exemplifies various construction trends as well as examples of restoration and adaptive reuse touting the sustainability of the typical vernacular barn and their continued practicality and relevancy today. Programs can be obtained during registration hours, 9am-2pm the morning of the tour, at the historical society’s Archives Building, 2539-A Montauk Highway, (a barn itself, and the second building east of Bridgehampton’s main traffic intersection; across from the Bulls Head Inn, and immediately east of the Nathaniel Rogers House, both under renovation). The tour is self-guided allowing guests to choose all or some of the barn sites to visit, as well as their own sequence and schedule. Volunteer docents will greet guests at each barn site which will be identified with an orange traffic cone and flags.
Tickets are $25 per person the day of the tour, $20 in advance, and $15 in advance for society members. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the historical society, and the day of the event at the society’s Archives Building. Programs will act as tickets and will not be distributed prior to the day of the tour. The event will occur rain or shine. For additional information please call the Bridgehampton Historical Society at 631.537.1088, or email us at bhhspc@gmail.com.
