Black Friday Savings Start Earlier on Long Island

Traditionally, Black Friday comes the day after Thanksgiving. This year, more retailers are opening up shop earlier. Some are opening as soon as a few hours after Thanksgiving dinner. 

Are the deals really worth running out to the stores that quick? We offer some insight on what you can expect this Black Friday.

To give you a sense of timing, some of the stores opening on Thanksgiving Day to kick off Black Friday shopping include:

• Kmart at 8pm;
• Sears at 8pm;
• Wal-Mart at 8pm;
• Target at 9pm; and
• Toys R Us at 9pm.

There are some major electronic deals coming out on Thanksgiving Day at Wal-Mart, including:

• Apple iPad 2, 16GB with Wi-Fi for $399 and you get a $75 Walmart gift card;
• LG Blu-ray player for $38;
• Emerson 32-nch 720p LCD TV for $148;
• Xbox 360 4GB + SkyLanders Bundle for $149;
• Wii Console for $89;
• Leappad 1.0 Learning Tablet for $79;
• Vizio 60-inch 720p LED Smart TV with built in Wi-Fi for $688;
• Samsung 43-nch 720p 600Hz Class Plasma HDTV for $378; and
• Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones for $179.95.

At Targets, shoppers can find savings on:

• Apex 32-inch LCD TV for $147;
• Nikon digital camera for $99.99; and
• Clothing, accessories and home product purchases. When you shop between 4am to noon on Friday and purchase $50 or more on these items, you get a free $10 Target gift card.

At Kohls, get a sneak peak on deals from its Operation: Black Friday circular. You can expect more savings than usual with its Kohl’s Cash promotion between Nov. 21 and 25. Rather than getting back the typical $10 Kohl’s Cash award for every $50 spent, you get $15 Kohl’s Cash.

At Best Buy, some of its Black Friday deals include:

• Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for $179.99;
• Canon Powershot A2300 for $79.99; and
• Toshiba 40-inch HDTV for $179.99.

Whether you end up shopping the day of Thanksgiving or after, there is savings to be found either way. Stay safe while shopping!
