“Summer 2013 Beebe Windmill Tours”
Five Saturdays throughout the summer: July 6th, July 20th, August 3rd, August 17th, and September 7th, 10am-Noon; Southeast Corner of Ocean Road and Hildreth Ave., Bridgehampton
The Bridgehampton Museum is pleased to be the key-holders of the historic Beebe Windmill. Listed on State and National Registers of Historic Places as well as a Southampton Town designated landmark, residents and visitors can tour this beautifully preserved structure on one of five Saturdays throughout the summer. The windmill is one of 11 that survive on Long Island, was built in 1820 for a retired whaling captain and shipbuilder, and has moved many times and had many owners. It now rests next to the historic Minden estate on Ocean Road built for John Berwind. Learn more about the windmill’s history and operation and take advantage of the unique opportunity to climb inside during a shady half hour on a summer morning.
Open to the Public. Free Admission. Other tours can be arranged by appointment. For more information call 631-537-1088, visit www.bhmuseum.org, or email bhhs@optonline.net.
