On January 25th, a camera photographed a man walking into a Macy’s department store at 160 Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station. According to reports from the Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives investigating the case, the man made his way to the jewelry counter, and then asked the clerk working at the counter to show him a necklace in the display case. When the clerk handed the man the necklace, he promptly fled the store, taking the necklace with him. Authorities were unable to catch him. The necklace is valuable, as is the reward for any information which might lead to the jewelry thief’s arrest. You can see the man clearly in the photograph, but authorities still have not identified him by name.
Suffolkcounty authorities are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can provide information which leads to the case being solved and to the jewelry thief being apprehended. If you know anything about the crime or the man in the photograph, you can call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to share your information at 1-800-220-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential, and if your call helps to catch the thief, you may be eligible for the $5,000 reward.
