The musical showcase will feature a variety of up and coming local musicians. Additionally, East End Arts Artist-in-Residence, visual artist and arts educator Gena Griffiths, will be presenting her work as the finale event of her residency.
Multi-media visual artist and certified art teacher, East End Arts’ Artist-in-Residence, Gena Griffiths will give her finale presentation, highlighting the work she did during her residency, which began in July. Gena Griffiths has been working with children and teens through a variety of workshops, camps, and classes, focusing on visual art, and her project as Artist-in-Residence was to create a three-figure sculpturerepresenting the purity of a child’s creative process. The Long Island Creative Vortex will present their latest project, Creative Unity, which will launch at this event. From the very beginning, the Long Island Creative Vortex has been about uniting every genre of artist throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties that have found the inspiration to make what can be imagined a reality. The goal of this artist collective is to help strengthen the community of creative individuals across Long Island while helping to gain exposure for the amazing work they provide through interactive community minded projects working with both artists and collectives. It is within that spirit the Long Island Creative Vortex is proud to announce the launch of the brand new traveling project, the Creative Unity Project. The Creative Unity Project is based on working around a two-sided piece; raised off both sides will be the word ‘Unity’. The piece will travel to several locations across Nassau and Suffolk counties, where artists will be invited to come together and add to the theme of Unity. Artists (and really anyone) can paint anything on this piece constantly keeping the piece evolving and growing.
