On Saturday, September 7, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. will host its 10th Annual Old Bethpage Walk for Alzheimer’s & Mexican Fiesta, which take place at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, located at 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, NY. This is a 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) walk, which will be held rain or shine.
Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a dedication ceremony to honor those who died during the September 11, 2001 attacks at 10:00 a.m., then a ribbon cutting ceremony and walk starting at 11:00 a.m. From there, walkers will have the opportunity to tour the grounds and see some of the historically preserved buildings along the way.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. This year’s fundraising goal is $400,000. Teams and individuals are encouraged to raise money, all of which will go to the ADRC for Alzheimer’s research and care. Those who raise $100 or more will receive a Walk for Alzheimer’s T-shirt and tote bag. As part of an incentive, walkers who raise at least $250 will be eligible to receive certain prizes.
Registration fees will apply only to people who would like to walk but do not have intentions of fundraising. Registration fees are $20 per adult, $10 for teens 13-18, and $5 for children 2-12. Children under 2 are free.
“This is a fun and easy way to get the family together to help raise money and promote awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease here on Long Island. It is important that we continue research that will enable better treatments so we can start fighting back and move a step closer to our vision of a future free from Alzheimer’s,” says Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc.
Registration for teams and individuals is still ongoing. For more information, or to register, call Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, at (631) 820-8068 or visit www.adrcinc.org.
