Southampton, NY — For the past several months, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) and SeniorCare Companions have been collaborating to bring qualified and trained home companions out to the East End of Long Island to assist local families. “Together, our agencies have identified and trained individuals to take on the role of a home companion providing much-needed assistance to our families,” states Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, ADRC’s Executive Director & CEO. Each of these trained individuals has a car and a valid driver’s license, has gone through an extensive background check, and has been trained by experts in the field of dementia and/or Alzheimer’s Disease.
The Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, which is headquartered in Bay Shore and has a satellite office in Southampton, is the only local Alzheimer’s Disease advocacy and educational facility whose mission is to provide hands-on support and services to families on Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. ADRC works with family members, health care professionals and researchers to ensure quality health care and support to those impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease through care and consultation, information and referral, training, support groups, and caregiver safety products.
SeniorCare Companions, Inc. is a NYS licensed, insured, and bonded employment agency located in Islip and now shares the Southampton satellite office with ADRC. SeniorCare Companions was formed by local doctors who know how important independent living is to seniors. “Our purpose was to form a company that could provide the highest quality service to the growing senior citizen population, allowing them to enjoy the freedom of living at home,” says Owner and President Dr. Bernard Sengstock. All of the employees at SeniorCare Companions undertake a rigorous screening process for client safety, including a medical clearance by qualified physicians. SeniorCare Companions also performs extensive criminal background and reference checks.
