West Islip, NY – In June, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center affiliated physician Raymond L. Ebarb, MD, FAAFP, will be inaugurated as president of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians (NYSAFP) at the Annual Meeting of Congress of Delegates in Troy, NY. The NYSAFP is the premier advocacy organization for family physicians in New York State representing more than 5,000 family physicians, resident physicians and medical students throughout the state. The American Academy of Family Physicians, of which NYSAFP is a constituent chapter, is one of the largest physician specialty organizations in the United States.
For a term of one year, Dr. Ebarb will be the chief officer of the NYSAFP and responsible for administration and implementation of its policies. He will represent the Academy in collaborating with and serving as consultant for state governmental agencies, legislators and other health care provider organizations.
Dr. Ebarb has 25 years experience in Family Medicine with a founding partner of Great South Bay Family Medical Practice in West Sayville. He has been a member of the Good Samaritan Hospital medical staff for more than 20 years.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Ebarb still serves as Medical Director of the Association for Help for Retarded Children in Bohemia and the Suffolk County Medical Reserve Corp. He has also participated in numerous medical relief tours in the post-Katrina Gulf Coast and earthquake ravaged Haiti.
Dr. Ebarb was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He resides in Sayville, with his wife, Therese, and two sons, Theo, and Raymond.
