CINCINNATI, Ohio - As the East Coast struggles to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, AdvancePierre Foods—a leading supplier of value-added protein and handheld convenience meal items—is helping the relief efforts. On Saturday, the company donated 3,591 cases of food to Long Island’s Island Harvest, which will provide more than 40,000 meals to residents in need.
“We are grateful for the services that Island Harvest is providing to New York hurricane victims and want to support their relief efforts,” said Bill Toler, president and CEO of AdvancePierre Foods. “We hope this product donation will allow Island Harvest and its affiliates to provide warm meals to families who need them most.”
AdvancePierre’s donation includes breaded chicken fingers, Asian- and Italian- style appetizers and a variety of Cordon Bleu, broccoli and cheese and wild rice stuffed chicken breast entrees. Island Harvest will provide the donated items to shelters and soup kitchens across Long Island.
