I have always thought that one of the true tests of a talent is to be able to paint incredibly looking portraits or other works of art. Each time I take in an art show or go through an art gallery I am always amazed at the incredible talent and vision of these artists. This describes Dianne Martin, a part-time resident of Southold, to a T. She works from her Long Island studio and produces beautiful monotypes. Her work begins with an oil monotype on paper, which she develops further using materials from nature.
All month long the Quogue Library has been highlighting the work of Martin as a part of their Art Gallery at the Quogue Library appreciation event. The Libraray is highlighting Martin's book, "A Walk on the Wildside" and are proud to be a part of the growing vision of the artist.
The artist herself says, “I am looking for that initial image to grow into a compelling visual world that bridges reality and imagination. Birds are often inhabitants, but not as particular species. Birds bring life, grace and, at times, conflict to this visual world.”
You can catch the art gallery at the Quogue Library, but the event ends on Feb. 27th.
