27 Year Old Case Reopened on Long Island

Long Island police have recently reopened a 27 year old murder investigation, calling on anyone who might be able to provide insight into the unsolved case.  27 years ago, Chaim Weiss, a 15 year old rabbinical student attending Mestiva of Long Beach Torah High School was found murdered in his bed with multiple stab wounds.  Police say that reopening the case is not unique, and that there are a number of old cases which are being reinvestigated concurrently.  “This is not the only older case we’re looking at at the persent time,” stated Det. Lt. John Azzata.  “This is just one where we believe there’s someone out there that has a secret that can let us know, or give us a piece of what’s known out there.” 

It has long been believed that the murderer had a knowledge of Orthodox Jewish Tradition, since he left the window open after he left his dormitory.  “It has to do with the religion, the soul leaving the room,” explained Azzata, stating it was just one of several clues pointing in that direction.  Of course, those clues could have been deliberately contrived by the murder to mislead investigators into seeking a murderer in the Jewish community.  Police are also investigating DNA evidence for any new information that today’s advanced science can provide.
