2013 Winter/Spring Picture Films Announced

December 20, 2012 (Sag Harbor, NY) – The Picture Show at Bay Street Theatre is pleased to announce that Peconic Landing is sponsoring its long-running, classic Picture Show Series for the 2013 Season.

“Peconic Landing is thrilled to be working again with Bay Street Theatre,” says Laurelle Cassone, Sales Manager – Peconic Landing, “our partnership allows us to further our goal of bringing exceptional cultural opportunities to the residents of the East End.”

The Picture Show has been an eight-year staple of Bay Street’s winter programming, with low-cost classic films from the 30’s, 40’s & 50’s.  Producer Gary Hygom created the line-up and notes perennial favorites. “This series is a great asset to the community because it provides low-cost entertainment all winter long,” says Tracy Mitchell, Bay Street’s Executive Director. “And we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Peconic Landing on board in support of this mission.”

The 2013 winter/spring lineup begins with Elvis Weekend on January 11 and 12. All films start at 8 pm. Tickets are $7 at the door and include a small box of popcorn. For the $28 prix-fixe "Dinner and a Movie" package, call Page at 63 Main (631-725-1810), IL Capuccino (631-725-2747) or Sen (631-725-1774). Beginning February 15, the dinner package will be available at Dockside (631-725-7100). Cost does not include sales tax, beverage or gratuities.

He hopes to be a mechanic but soon after his arrival finds himself working as a sparring partner at a boxing camp. Having lost all of his money in a crap game, Walter is happy to take any kind of work but a devastating right hook sends him down a different path. Willy Grogan thinks he has a winner in Walter who, after helping a lady out, is dubbed Kid Galahad. Willy is a likable man but gambles too much and may have been a witness to a mobster's conversation that would best be forgotten. As Walter gains more success, and falls in love with Willy's sister Rose, Willy Grogan finds himself coming under pressure from mobsters to make Walter takes a dive at his next big fight. Phyllis proposes to kill her husband to receive the proceeds of an accident insurance policy and Walter devises a scheme to receive twice the amount based on a double indemnity clause. When Mr. Dietrichson is found dead on a train-track, the police accept the determination of accidental death. However, the insurance analyst and Walter's best friend Barton Keyes does not buy the story and suspects that Phyllis has murdered her husband with the help of another man. Sometime in the future, the city of Metropolis is home to a Utopian society where its wealthy residents live a carefree life. One of those is Freder Fredersen. One day, he spots a beautiful woman with a group of children, she and the children who quickly disappear. Trying to follow her, he, oblivious to such, is horrified to find an underground world of workers, apparently who run the machinery which keeps the above ground Utopian world functioning. One of the few people above ground who knows about the world below is Freder's father, who is the founder and master of Metropolis. Freder learns that the woman is Maria, who espouses the need to join the "hands" - the workers - to the "head" - those in power above - by a mediator or the "heart". Freder wants to help the plight of the workers in the want for a better life. Directed by Fritz Lang

Vienna stands strong against them, and is aided by the presence of an old acquaintance of hers, Johnny Guitar, who is not what he seems. Starring Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden, Mercedes MacCambridge and Ernest Borgnine.

King Louis XI is a wise and old king and Frollo is the Chief Justice. Frollo gazes on the gypsy girl, Esmeralda, in the church during Fool's Day and sends Quasimoto to catch her. Quasimoto, with the girl, is captured by Phoebus, Captain of the Guards, who frees the girl. The courts sentence Quasimoto to be flogged, and the only one who will give him water while he is tied in the square is Esmeralda. Later, at a party of nobles, Esmeralda again meets both Frollo, who is bewitched by her, and Phoebus. When Phoebus is stabbed to death, Esmeralda is accused of the murder, convicted by the court and sentenced to hang. Clopin, King of the Beggars, Gringoire the Husband of Esmeralda, and Quasimoto, the bellringer, all try different ways to save her from the gallows. Starring Charles Laughton and Maureen O’Hara.

Even though Byam takes no part in the mutiny, he must defend himself against charges that he supported Christian. Starring Charles Laughton and Clark Gable.

Lou wants Tina to be at his concerts, otherwise he can't perform, but he's married, so Danny has to take her along as if she was his girlfriend. Danny however gets more than he has bargained for when two mobsters come looking for the guy who has hurt their brother by stealing the heart of Tina, the girl he loves. Starring Woody Allen, Gene Wilder, Louise Lasser, Tony Randall, Lynn Redgrave, Burt Reynolds and John Carradine.

To win Caesar's support from her brother, Cleopatra hides herself in a rug, which Apollodorus, her servant, presents to Caesar. The Roman is immediately infatuated; banishing Ptolemy, he declares Cleopatra Egypt's sole ruler and takes her as his mistress. A son, Caesarion, is born of their union. Caesar, however, must return to Italy. Although he is briefly reunited with Cleopatra during a magnificent reception for the queen in Rome, Caesar is assassinated shortly thereafter, and Cleopatra returns to Egypt.
