A three foot long American Alligator was found in a container in the Applebees Shopping Center at the intersection of Montauk Highway and William Floyd Parkway in Shirley. This is the 5th Alligator found abandoned on Long Island in the last week.
Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that the Alligator was found in an area where people and children are present to go into the stores and the eating establishment. They cannot survive the cold weather, Gross said. Chief Gross said that a $2,000.00 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for abandoning the Alligator in the Shopping Center.
