2 Inches of Snowfall in Long Island
Some parts of Long Island have been covered in snow since a storm came through last night, depositing 2 inches. The storm has passed and the roads have been cleared, but some snow still remains on the ground. The county with the most snowfall was Nassau; about an inch fell in parts of Suffolk, while other areas of Suffolk only experienced brief flurries without much of a deposit. A couple of areas received more than two inches, including North Massapequa (2.5 inches) and Woodmere (2.3 inches). An inch and a half fell in North Babylon and Shirley.
Those who are hoping for warmer weather will have to endure temperatures below freezing for another day and night. Temperatures are unlikely to get above 27 or below 19 until Sunday. At that point, things still will be pretty chilly, lingering around the mid-30s for the remainder of the weekend. Next week however, temperatures could climb into the 40s. At this point there is no more snow in the forecast, so there will at least be a break from the precipitation. Next week could be a good time to get out and do some things before the next cold front rolls through.
