Fall is a great time of year. The summer heat makes its way out being replaced with the more bearable cooler weather, the leaves begin to change, and the harvest is in full swing. That means pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins! Fall is also special around Long Island because that means the most anticipated event of the year begin. Yes, the Long Island Fall Festival is getting ready to start.
This festival is making its 19th annual appearance and will be starting on Friday, October 5th at 3 PM with a large carnival and expansive food court in Huntington. This festival is a tremendous time for Long Island residents and is the place to be for rides, food, entertainment, crafts, and tons of cool vendors.
Huntington has held this great festival for 19 years at Heckscher Park and will fill its 25 acres with a wide variety of different displays and activities. Starting off on the 5th is a mammoth "Battle of the Bands" on the Chapin Stage with plenty of other great things to do throughout the weekend.
Entrance into the festival is Free and you will be instantly transported into another world of fun and excitement. Included in this year's four day event is a wide range of different activities including;
An amazing carnival for kids and adults alike; hundreds of different displays and demonstrations in arts and crafts; 3 stages with continuous live entertainment; a tremendous Farmers Market complete with petting zoo and corn maze; building workshops, beer and wine tastings, food court, and even a meatball eating contest. A Columbus Day Parade Sunday is planned for 12:30pm.
If you plan to attend the event you can park for free at the Huntington Train Station. From there you can catch a free shuttle service to the fair grounds. This round trip shuttle service will carry a fee of $1.00.
