Smithtown, NY - November 3rd, 2014 - Evan Mauner, 14, of Great River, made a donation to St. Catherine’s Women’s Health and Outpatient Diagnostic Pavilion to support breast health services. During the month of October, Evan was motivated to support breast cancer awareness—in honor of his mother. His efforts raised $1,126. This is the third consecutive year that Evan has coordinated the Cupcakes for A Cause fundraiser.
Evan’s efforts are a direct inspiration to rally support around his mother, Ilene Mauner, a breast cancer survivor. “Dr. Green, Dr. Lee and everyone I've had contact with since my diagnosis has been just incredible,” said Mrs. Ilene Mauner. “No one wants to be in this position (diagnosed with breast cancer), but if you have to be, I tell everyone I'm in such good hands at St. Catherine of Siena—you're seen as a person first.”
“It is so wonderful to see Evan so committed to raising awareness about breast cancer and for supporting St. Catherine of Siena,” stated Director of Breast Imaging Anne Green, MD. “It is also so much fun watching him grow throughout the years and still be so excited about Cupcakes for A Cause.”
St. Catherine’s Women’s Health and Outpatient Diagnostic Pavilion offers comprehensive breast health services in a private setting, and is a Breast imaging Center of Excellence, designated by the American College of Radiology.
