Westhampton Beach, NY July 13, 2012: Calling all Broadway lovers! New York City’s award-winning Camp Broadway returns to Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center and for the first time ever, includes a mid-week trip, via motor coach, to NYC for a Broadway show, lunch, and backstage tour! From August 6 -10, 9am – 5:30pm, Camp Broadway will offer a glimpse into the magic created on the Great White Way to kids ages 10 - 17! Participants will rehearse like real Broadway performers in preparation of a performance of the Tony Award winning musical, My Fair Lady!
WHBPAC veterans of Camp Broadway have gone on to meet Broadway stars, sing at Carnegie Hall and even dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! As the exclusive venue on Long Island to host the renowned Camp Broadway, WHBPAC is proud to be able to continue to enrich the lives of the youngsters in the greater community through this new and inspiring program.
This exhilarating five-day Broadway boot camp for young performers includes classes in choreography, music and acting taught by Camp Broadway’s team of Broadway professionals. Mid-week, campers will board a motor coach to NYC’s Imperial Theatre to see the high-stepping new musical comedy extravaganza, Nice Work if You Can Get It, starring Matthew Broderick and Kelly O’Hara. At the end of the week, campers will put on a show-stopping performance of My Fair Lady for family and friends. Whether your child dreams of working in the theatre or just loves to "put on a show," this camp is any Broadway fan's dream come true!
The goal of the WHBPAC’s Arts Education Program is to ensure that the arts play an integral role in the lives of both children and adults in our communities. WHBPAC Arts Education Programs currently provide a distinctive and comprehensive array of offerings for children and their families year-round. Participation in the performing arts can unleash creative energy, help a youngster to find his or her unique voice, reinforce valuable life skills and support the development of an appreciation and lifelong love for the arts.
