My husband and I were visiting Long Island for our anniversary, and we didn't really make specific plans before we went because we enjoy adventure. One of our favorite discoveries was the 1880 Seafield House Bed & Breakfast in the little town of Westhampton Beach. It's a lovely Victorian house with a cozy fireplace, and a great dining room. There's even a library with old books which you can look through.
The bed and breakfast feels very personal and inviting, but still has the types of amenities you'd look for in a typical hotel as well, like a heated swimming pool. We really had a great time here, and I couldn't imagine coming back to LI without stopping by and staying another night. Rates are substantially less expensive on the off season, so that's the best time to stop in!
